Church Based Training Symposium

April 6 I flew back to Budapest where I was picked up by a band of merry symposium attendees. We headed to Vienna for a symposium on Church Based Training (CBT). They graciously let me sleep in the back of the van the whole way to Vienna. The CBT-Symposium was hosted by the Austrian organization, BAO (Biblical Training on Location). Seventy leaders from all over Europe (14 European countries), USA, New Zealand, and Brazil were represented. We had 5 of us from our church in Budapest, Kelenfold Evangelical Church (KEGy). There were a couple of concrete results from the symposium. A Europe-wide result was that a “Church-based Training Network-International” (“CBT-Net”) was created (12 organizations have already formally expressed a desire to join this network, one of them being our church, KEGy). A local result was that we began meetings to develop church based training at KEGy. We met with the Elders 4 times to train them in the material and now we are meeting with a larger group of guys to get them trained in it for the next 6 weeks. By the time we are ready to start the full blown program in the fall we should have a good group of facilitators! We are using materials from the Center for Church Based Training (ccbt.org). If you are interested in helping us purchase or translate the materials into Hungarian or any other language here in Europe, please contact me.
